Clare Maynard's work is experiential, her paintings are based on journeys which are closely informed by travel and also circumstances which are not necessarily planned. The environs which she has recorded in paintings so far range from East Africa to parts of Europe such as Berlin and the Czech Republic, the landscapes are often remote or unusual in some aspect of their history. This Wales-based artist always returns to - as she perceives- 'home' and builds upon her exhibitions to include the landscape of Wales of which she is so familiar. Clare is currently developing exhibitions Oriel Mwldan, Cardigan and a government building in central Berlin for 2011.
