Rosie Dolton

Lives and works in Cardiff, Wales

Rosie Dolton’s sculpture and installations primarily question why colour is usually associated with the feminine or decorative in sculpture.

Rosie uses a variety of time consuming and repetitive processes, which are typically associated with the feminine such as sewing. Her current work involves using every day found objects and sewing into them with colourful thread. Through this work she questions traditional notions of femininity by combining soft ephemeral materials with inflexible, ‘man-made’ objects.

Rosie graduated from Cardiff School of Art (UWIC) in 2011, specialising in sculpture.
