Nadia Hebson

Nadia Hebson’s paintings relate to ‘grotesquerie’, ‘prettiness’ and a sense of overwrought, overwhelming emotion.

Whilst Hebson’s work mixes delicate portraits with large brooding, seascapes, both share a unique painterly touch. The material of a dress and the crash of a wave against a ship’s bow are wispily rendered with a ghostly, almost haunted reminiscence.

Hebson is a recent scholar at The British School of Rome and has just completed a residency at Durham Cathedral. Upcoming shows include a solo exhibition at the Reg Vardy Gallery, Sunderland.
