Paul Hurley

Paul Hurley is a Cardiff-based interdisciplinary artist whose work is primarily concerned with the body – as organism, as signifier, as site of action and resistance.

Hurley has for some time been investigating the boundaries at which the human and the animal converge, exploring the notion of ‘becoming-animal’ in an evolving series of ‘becoming-invertebrate’ (performances, videos and documented actions). His work brings together an often-intense physicality with elements of post-structuralist philosophy, queer theory, and an ongoing confusion over the nature of love.

Hurley lives and works in Bristol, England, with recent exhibitions and performances in New York, Cardiff and Beijing.
