Edita Atmaja, Lemari Pendingin, 2015
Edita works predominantly in drawing and print to create studious, intricate and delicate artwork surrounding plant species.
Her recent work explores the role that plants play in our everyday lives – especially concerning our innate social nature. These works involved examining specific areas where plants and people live together whilst interacting with the public. Her research led to a collaborative project between herself and the local public where they cultivated plants to be exchanged freely between one other. Thus creating a hub for botanical knowledge to be communicated and shared. Her immersive installations exhibit and build the vital, symbiotic relationship between people and nature.
Edita received a Bachelor of Design in Graphic Design at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. She has since been involved in various exhibitions and residencies across Indonesia and globally, such as
900 MDPL, Kaliurang, Yogyakarta (2017), and her solo exhibitions
Toko Bunga “Anggrek”, Galeri Pasar, Jakarta (2015) and
Botanica 1.2:Good Wishes, Gratitude, and Calotropis Gigantea, Hof Art Residency, Bangkok (2017). In addition, Edita has held artist residencies at Lir Space, Yogyakarta (2015), Hof Art Residency, Bangkok (2017) and
