This workshop will mix collage, mapping and sculpture to curate new planets, which may be dystopian or utopian depending on you.
Working within the themes of nature, landscape and climate justice through the lens of disability. Each new planet will be made of places, countries, and terrains which are of interest giving the planet its own individual landscape. Opening up the possibilities of a world that reflects all people/world needs, desires, and wellbeing.
This will involve choosing from a range of different mapping material, local, regional, national and international, cutting the paper and sticking the landscapes together on a small globe. Covering the old surface with a new landscape and a new dream.
Each participant with take away with them a new future planet that has not yet been realised, and have time to contemplate how this new planet would unfold in real time.
“Share Space” is showing in Effaith, where Grant’s practice of political mapping/collage visualises a world where all space is shared equally, breaking down the hierarchy that dominates our landscapes and freedoms.
Grant is a disability-led practitioner and can adapt the workshop to meet a variety of access needs. Instructions will be provided on paper as well as verbally. These instructions can be provided in advance - (contact: post@disabilityarts.cymru). This event has no BSL interpretation. Should you wish to discuss additional access needs, please contact post@disabilityarts.cymru.
